PRO Vietnam and Nestlé Vietnam Organize Training Program on Occupational Safety in Waste Collection and Recycling

19/12/2024

The Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam), in collaboration with its member Nestlé Vietnam, recently organized a training program on occupational safety and hygiene for partner waste collection and recycling units.

This initiative represents PRO Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to support waste collection and recycling partners by raising awareness and enhancing the effective implementation of safety and hygiene measures in these operations.

During the program, experts shared fundamental knowledge to help build safe and efficient working environments while safeguarding the health of workers in waste collection and recycling. The goal is to improve job quality, reduce workplace accidents, and enhance the working conditions for personnel involved in waste management.

Mr. Khuat Quang Hung, Director of External Relations and Communications at Nestlé Vietnam, stated: “Through this program, we aim to provide essential safety knowledge to workers and raise awareness of potential hazards among waste collection and recycling units. This contributes to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring safe working conditions in waste management activities. It aligns with our priority to build a greener future.”

In addition to technical content, the program also provided updates on relevant legal regulations and international requirements. These updates are intended to guide businesses in fulfilling environmental compliance and labor rights responsibilities within the supply chain. The information helps waste management companies and organizations better understand their role and obligations in fostering a safe, compliant, and responsible work culture.

Mr. Nguyen Gia Huy Chuong, CEO of PRO Vietnam, emphasized: “PRO Vietnam is committed to partnering with waste collection and recycling units to raise awareness and ensure occupational safety for the well-being of workers and the sustainability of Vietnam’s recycling ecosystem. We believe that close collaboration among stakeholders is key to building an effective waste management system that protects the environment and communities.”

Looking ahead, PRO Vietnam aspires to expand this training program, gradually standardizing and improving the quality of the recycling industry. The goal is to ensure the effective, safe, and sustainable operation of Vietnam’s waste management system.
